What is a Junior Enterprise? To understand what ESME is it is necessary to learn about the idea of a "junior enterprise". France was the first countryin which it was established, in 1967. This movement got expanded all over Europe, Spain included, in the late 80s.
A Junior Enterprise is a non-profit organization, entirely managed by students who provide services to small and medium size enterprises that have something to do with the degree they are studying. The main idea is to bring students closer to the labour market from a vision of an enterprise, providing them the kind of training practice university does not.
It would be important to say that the fact that Junior Enterprises are located in universities, they have the university's support. Not to mention the support other Junior Enterprises, which guarantees the quality of their development. Junior Enterprises are entitie legally established, registered in the Treasury, paying the Basque Government the tributes that law establishes Junior Enterprises has to pay. The profit earned is intended to other activities that could complement the formation of the students of the university, such as courses, seminars, lectures as well as encourage the contact with other Junior either from Spain or from the rest of the world. Junior Movement. This movement started in France in 1967 with the aim to let students from universities put into practice the knowledge they have gained, as well as to start learning about the business world.
In 1986 this movement reached Spain, and in this day and age all the Junior Enterprises from Spain are gathered into the different regional federations. This way, ESME Junior Enterprise is inside Federación Vasca de Junior Empresas (Basque Federation of Junior Enterprises).
All the federations in Spain are linked by the Condefederación de Española de Junior Empresas (Spanish Confederation of Junior Enterprises), that at the same time is part of the European Confederation of Junior Enterprises (JADE), being this the European organization of the phenomenon of Junior Enterprises.
These different organizations demonstrate the strength and depth of the phenomenon of Junior Enterprises, that are nowdays still expanding all over the world. There are even Junior Enterprises in South Africa and Brasil.
The result of this situation is a bigger capacity for interaction and effectiveness in obtaining profit inside Junior Enterprises with regard to the students who form this global phenomena.
